Natalia Andreychik participated in the work of the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly session
Mrs.
Natalia Andreychik, Chairperson of the Standing Committee for Legislation and
State Administration of the Council of the Republic was on the parliamentary
delegation of the Republic of Belarus that participated in the work of the 4th
winter session of the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly which was held in Vienna on
February 24 — 25, 2005.
The session
was convened within the framework of the Assembly’s three Committees and was
dedicated to the preparation of the 14th annual session of the OSCE
Parliamentary Assembly to be held on 1—5 July, 2005 in Washington. While in
plenary, the parliamentarians of the OSCE member-states were greeted by
President of Austria Mr. Heinz Fischer, the OSCE Chairman-in-Office, Minister
of Foreign Affairs of Slovenia Mr. Dimitry Rupel, President of the OSCE
Parliamentary Assembly Mr. Alcee Hastings and President of the Austrian
Parliament Mr. Andreas Khol. The speakers stressed the historic importance of
the 30th Anniversary of the Helsinki Final Act and the need for the
OSCE to adapt to the new political situation. Parliamentary dimension of the
OSCE as well as the Organization’s election monitoring activities were in the
center of participants’ attention who also heard the report of the Bureau of
the Assembly, its Treasurer, leaders of the ad-hoc working groups and
committees as well as heads of election observation missions in a number of
countries.
