Gennady Novitsky has met with the Speaker of the National Assembly of the Parliament of the Republic of South Africa Ms. Baleka MbeteOn 20 October 2006 the Chairman of the National Assembly Council of the Republic Mr. Gennady Novitsky had a meeting with Ms. Baleka Mbete, Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of South Africa.
During the meeting Gennady Novitsky stressed that developing cooperation with the Republic of South Africa is one of Belarus’ foreign policy priorities on the African continent and that South Africa plays a key role in the region while the country’s prestige in the international arena is constantly growing. He also expressed confidence that the present visit to Belarus by South African parliamentarians would be a starting point for a constructive and intensive dialogue between the legislatures of the two countries.
The parties demonstrated reciprocal interest in furthering bilateral contacts and members of the South African delegation received exhaustive replies to all their questions.
