22.12.2004 The first session of the Council of the Republic of the 3rd convocation completes its workOn December 22, 2004 the first session of the National Assembly Council of the Republic of the 3rd convocation completed its work.
During the last sitting the parliamentarians considered the bill “On amending the Law of the Republic of Belarus “On precious metals and gems”, ratified the Memorandum on mutual understanding between the Republic of Belarus and NATO on issues of logistics and supplies in the process of cooperation in the field of material and technical support, the inter-governmental treaties and agreements with the Polish Republic, the Sultanate of Oman and the Republic of Italy.
The senators discussed and took note of a number of decrees by the President of the Republic of Belarus, approved the nomination of Petr Miklashevich to the post of the Republic’s Attorney General. The session also established Council of the Republic’s delegations to international parliamentary organizations such as the Parliamentary Assembly of the Belarus-Russia Union, the Inter-Parliamentary Assembly of Orthodoxy, the Inter-Parliamentary Assemblies of the CIS and the Eurasian Economic Cooperation, the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly, the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe, the Parliamentary Assembly of the Black Sea Economic Cooperation and others.
At the end of the session the Chairman of the Council of the Republic Gennady Novitsky summed up the results of the work done by the first session of the upper chamber of the Belarusian Parliament of the 3rd convocation and outlined the prospects for the nearest future.
