19.12.2008The final sitting of the first session of the Council of the Republic took place
On 19 December 2008 the final sitting of the first session of the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly of the Republic of Belarus of the 4th convocation took place. 12 issues were considered, Mr Boris Batura, Chairman of the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly of the Republic of Belarus, presented the closing speech to the parliamentarians. He summed up the results of work and outlined the future aims of the Council of the Republic for the interim period.
On the previous day extended sittings of the Standing Committees of the Council of the Republic for Education, Science, Culture and Social Development and for Regional Policy and Local Self-Government were held. The issues concerned were correspondingly pension coverage and improving legal provisions of a number of Laws of the Republic of Belarus in connection with the introduction of professional pension insurance, main provisions of the draft Law of the Republic of Belarus “On Commodity Markets”.
