Belarus-Russia Union parliamentarians gathered in the Vitebsk Region

On June 21, 2006 the 30th jubilee session of the Belarus-Russia Union Parliamentary Assembly began its work in the towns of Polotsk and Novopolotsk of the Vitebsk Region.
The Chairman of the Council of the Republic Committee for Economy, Budget and Finances Mr. Stepan Pisarevich took part in the sitting of the relevant Union Assembly Committee, which considered issues relating to the 2004 Union budget execution and budgetary appropriations for the year 2006.
Just as busy was the sitting of the Parliamentary Assembly Committee for Foreign Policy which is headed by the Chairman of the Council of the Republic Standing Committee for Foreign Affairs and National Security Mr. Nikolai Cherginets. The Union Assembly parliamentarians discussed issues pertaining to their participation in the 114th IPU Assembly which had taken place in Nairobi (Kenya), 27th plenary session of the Black Sea Economic Cooperation Parliamentary Assembly held in Yerevan, the workshop on the subject “Key issues of the Belarus-Russia integration process development”, etc.
The Chairman of the Council of the Republic Standing Committee for Regional Policy and Local Self-Government Mr. Anatoly Malofeev and a member of the Standing Committee for Economy, Budget and Finances Mr. Pavel Mariev contributed to the discussion of issues dealing with the budgetary appropriations of the Union State in 2006 and heard the Union State Council of Minister’s report.
The Parliamentary Assembly Committee for Social Policy, Science, Culture and Humanitarian Issues whose vice-chairman is Mr. Anatoly Novikov, Chairman of the Council of the Republic Standing Committee for Education, Science, Culture and Humanitarian Matters, considered the potential contribution of a Parliamentary Assembly delegation to the International Art Festival due to take place in Vitebsk (Belarus) in July.
The Chairperson of the Council of the Republic Standing Committee for Legislation and State Administration Mrs. Natalya Andreichik and member of the same Committee Mrs. Natalya Zaitseva took part in the work of the Parliamentary Assembly Committees for Legislation and Rules of Procedure and Information Policy Coordination with NGOs which considered proposals to amend the draft new text of the Union Parliamentary Assembly Rules of Procedure and the issue of financing publication of a Parliamentary Assembly newsletter which is to be called “Soyuznoe Veche” (Union Assembly).
