Svetlana Okruzhnaya has participated in the session of the Inter-Parliamentary Assembly of OrthodoxyOn 19 - 22 November 2006 a session of the International Secretariat and committee chairpersons of the Inter-Parliamentary Assembly of Orthodoxy (IAO) took place in Moscow. The session was attended by Deputy Chairperson of the National Assembly of the Republic of Belarus Council of the Republic Standing Committee for Education, Science, Culture and Humanitarian Matters Mrs. Svetlana Okruzhnaya who is also Deputy Chairperson of the Republic of  Belarus National Assembly delegation to IAO. The session participants discussed organizational, financial and other issues pertaining to the functioning of the Assembly.
Mr. S.Popov, Chairman of the Russian Federation State Duma Committee for Non-governmental and Religious Association Matters and IAO President, Mr. S.Papatemelis, member of the Greek Parliament and IAO Secretary General as well as Mr. V.Alekseev, President of the International Unity of Orthodox Nations and other IAO eminent personalities took part in the conference entitled “Orthodoxy and Human Rights”, which was held in the framework of the session. In her address to the forum Svetlana Okruzhnaya stressed the importance of moral and Christian values in the context human rights implementation.
While at the IAO session, Svetlana Okruzhnaya had meetings with IAO President, members of the International Secretariat and chairpersons of the Organization’s committees.
