The conference “Role of Politicians in the Changing Society” On 22 — 23 March 2010 the conference of parliamentarians of the Republic of Belarus, Northern European and Baltic countries on the topic of “Role of  Politicians in the Changing Society” takes place in Minsk. Among the participants of the event there are members of the Nordic Council  Presidium — Mr Dagfinn Høybråten (the Parliament of Norway), Ms Sinikka Bohlin (the Parliament of Sweden), Mr Erkki Tuomioja (the Parliament of Finland) as well as representatives of the Baltic Assembly — parliamentarians from Latvia, Lithuania and Estonia. Ms Nina Mazay, Chairperson of the Standing Committee of the Council of the Republic for Foreign Affairs and National Security, and Mr Arkady Karput, Deputy Chairperson of the Standing Committee of the Council of the Republic for Regional Policy and Local Self-Government, Deputy Head of the Delegation of the National Assembly of the Republic of Belarus on Contacting the Nordic Council, take part in the conference. The participants will discuss the concept principles of the “nordic model of development”, the experience of cooperation between the Baltic Region and northern countries, main approaches of the European Union strategy for Baltic countries, as well as future cooperation plans.
