Anatoly Rubinov had a meeting with the PACE rapporteur On 23 August 2010 a meeting of Mr Anatoly Rubinov, Chairman of the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly of  the Republic of Belarus, with Ms Sinikka Hurskainen, Chairperson of the Sub-Committee on Belarus, rapporteur on the situation in Belarus of the Political Affairs Committee of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE), took place in the Council of the Republic. Mr Leonid Krupets, Deputy  Chairman of the Council of the Republic, Mr Yevgeny Smirnov, Chairperson of the Standing Committee of the Council of the Republic for Legislation and State Administration, Ms Nina Mazay, Chairperson of the Standing Committee of the Council of the Republic for Foreign Affairs and National Security, and Mr Aleksandr Yushkevich, Chairperson of the Standing Committee of the House of Representatives of the National Assembly of the Republic of Belarus for Human Rights, National Relations and Mass Media, also took part in the meeting.
The participants of the meeting discussed the intensification of the dialogue between the National Assembly of the Republic of Belarus and the PACE as well as other issues of mutual interest. The Chairman of  the Council of the Republic underlined that the Republic of Belarus was interested in full-scale participation in the work of European parliamentary structures. He dwelt upon the aspects of social and economic development of our country at the present stage and the main directions of its foreign policy.
In her turn Ms Sinikka Hurskainen noted that she was very happy to visit the Republic of Belarus and discuss a number of questions connected to the development of relations between our country and the PACE. She also expressed hope for the intensification of the dialogue of the Republic of Belarus and the Assembly.
