The Republic of Belarus Parliamentary Delegation at the IPA CIS Events in Saint-Petersburg On 9 — 10 November 2011 the Republic of Belarus parliamentary delegation headed by Chairman of the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly of the Republic of Belarus, Mr Anatoly Rubinov took part in the sitting of the Council of the Interparliamentary  Assembly of the CIS Member Nations (IPA CIS) and in the Seminar for international observers monitoring elections and referenda. Chairperson of the Standing Committee of the Council of the Republic for Economy, Budget and Finances, Mr Vadim Popov and deputy Chairperson of the Standing Committee of the House of Representatives on international affairs and ties with the CIS, deputy Chairperson of the Permanent Commission on Political Issues and International Cooperation, Ms Maria Biryukova entered the parliamentary delegation.
On 9 November during the sitting Chairman of the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly of the Republic of Belarus, Mr Anatoly Rubinov was awarded the highest award of the IPA CIS, the Commonwealth Order for active participation in the IPA CIS and its bodies activity and contribution to the enhancement of the friendship between the CIS Member Nations. Chairperson of the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation, Ms Valentina Matvienko was elected Chairperson of the IPA CIS Council.
The participants of the event considered the decisions of the CIS Heads of States Council and the CIS Heads of Governments ones adopted in September — October 2011, the results of the IPA CIS representatives participation in the observation missions at the parliamentary elections in the Republic of Kazakhstan and presidential elections in the Kyrgyz Republic, summarized the work of the International Scientific Conference dedicated to the 65th Anniversary of the Nuremberg Trials, Fourth Nevsky International Ecological Congress, International Conference “Commonwealth of Independent States: Achievements, Challenges and Prospects” and International Conference “Role of Transport Communications in the Development of Economic Cooperation among the Nations of Europe and the CIS”. Deputy Chairperson of the IPA CIS Permanent Commission on Economy and Finance, Chairperson of the Standing Committee of the Council of the Republic for Economy, Budget and Finances, Mr Vadim Popov informed the Council members on the results of the last event. In addition, the implementation of the schedule of the events, dedicated to the CIS and IPA CIS 20th Anniversary, the IPA CIS work plan for 2012 and draft work plans for 2013 and 2014 were discussed and the perspective plan of the CIS model law-making for 2011 — 2015 was amended at the sitting.
On 10 November the Republic of Belarus parliamentary delegation participated in the Seminar for international observers monitoring elections and referenda on “International observation: impartiality, professionalism, depoliticization”. Chairperson of the Federation Council, Ms Valentina Matvienko, President of the Council of Europe Parliamentary Assembly, Mr Mevlut Cavusoglu, Chairman of the Executive Committee – the CIS Executive Secretary, Mr Sergey Lebedev attended the Seminar. Improvement of the CIS Member Nations bodies activity in the field of the elections, referenda and monitoring conduct was in the spot at the Seminar.
In the course of the events Chairman of the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly of the Republic of Belarus, Mr Anatoly Rubinov had meetings with Chairperson of the Federation Council, Ms Valentina Matvienko and Chairman of the Senate of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Mr Kayrat Mami. Bilateral inter-parliamentary interaction, as well as the cooperation in different spheres were considered at the meeting. |
