WORKING GROUPS TO MAINTAIN CONTACTS WITH PARLIAMENTS OF FOREIGN COUNTRIES   OFFICIAL VISITS AND WORKING CONTACTS

Speaker Gennady Novitsky met with Paul Friedrich von Fuhrherr

On January 9, 2006 the Chairman of the National Assembly Council of the Republic Mr. Gennady Novitsky met with H.E. Paul Friedrich von Fuhrherr, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Sovereign Military Order of Malta in the Republic of Belarus.

During the meeting the parties discussed prospects of bilateral cooperation between the Order of Malta and the Republic of Belarus in the humanitarian sphere. Mr. Gennady Novitsky thanked His Excellency for the charitable work the Order was doing in Belarus involving supplies of medical equipment and medicines to Belarusian hospitals and outpatient clinics. Just as important was Malta’s organization of workshops and hospital training sessions for Belarusian doctors abroad. The leader of the Council of the Republic expressed his hope that Belarus – Malta relations would be equally well developed in the field of investment projects.
       Besides, Mr. Novitsky briefed the guest on the socio-economic situation of Belarus, described the Republic’s foreign investments climate as well as the prospects for mutually beneficial trade and economic cooperation.
       The parties touched on some other issues dealing with the work of the Embassy of the Order of Malta in the Republic of Belarus.
