A parliamentary delegation of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam visits the National Assembly of the Republic of Belarus Council of the RepublicOn January 9, 2006 the Chairman of the Standing Committee for Foreign Affairs and National Security Mr. Nikolai Cherginets received a parliamentary delegation of Vietnam headed by Mr. Vu Xuan Hong,  member of the National Assembly of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam Committee for Foreign NGO’s Affairs, President of the Vietnam Union of Friendship Organizations. Present at the meeting was Mr. Anatoly Novikov, Chairman of the Council of the Republic Standing Committee for Social Matters, deputy leader of the National Assembly of the Republic of Belarus Working group on cooperation with the National Assembly of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam.
The parties discussed the status of Belarus-Vietnam parliamentary cooperation. Mr. Cherginets spoke of the forward-looking nature of the sincere and friendly relations that have been linking Belarus and Vietnam for years. He also stressed that the bilateral relations between Vietnam and Belarus would receive a new impetus after President of the Republic of Belarus Mr. Aleksandr Lukashenko visits Vietnam in February this year.
In conclusion the parties expressed their willingness to deepen the existing bilateral contacts.
