Chairman of the Council of the Republic met with the Ambassador of CubaOn February 13, 2006 the Chairman of the Belarus National Assembly Council of the Republic Mr. Gennady Novitsky met with His Excellency, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Cuba in the Republic of Belarus Omar Senon Medina Kintero.
During the meeting the issues of parliamentary interaction of the two countries, furthering of political dialogue and enhancing of trade and economic contacts were discussed. Mr. Novitsky stated that the cooperation between Cuba and Belarus develops progressively both on the bilateral basis and in the framework of different  inter-parliamentary organizations. He also stressed that the positions of our countries on the international arena are similar. A special attention was paid to promoting contacts through working groups, created in the respective parliaments.
In his turn Mr. Medina Kintero gave a brief summary on the main activities of the National Assembly of the People’s Power of the Republic of Cuba and seconded the idea of further cooperation development between our parliaments and coordination of collective initiatives on the international arena.
