Gennady Novitsky met with Nurtai AbykayevOn May 25, 2006 Mr. Gennady Novitsky, Chairman of the National Assembly Council of the Republic, had a meeting with Mr. Nurtai Abykayev, Chairman of the Senate of the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan. Present at the meeting also was Mr. Nikolai Cherginets, Chairman of the Council of the Republic Standing Committee for Foreign Affairs and National Security. 
Mr. Gennady Novitsky expressed satisfaction at the opportunity to re-new his compliments to the leader of the Kazakhstan Senate and said he was confident that the session of the Inter-Parliamentary Assembly of the European-Asian Economic  Community would be a success. The Speaker of the Council of the Republic stressed that Belarus and Kazakhstan have set themselves similar goals — to ensure that their respective people live in happiness and security. With regard to strengthening inter-parliamentary relations, the Speaker suggested that a cooperation agreement providing for the establishment of a parliamentary commission dealing with issues of mutual interest be prepared and signed.
Mr. Nurtai Abykayev supported the idea and added that it would also be useful to hold a joint parliamentary meeting with the participation of business circles of the two countries to discuss the possibilities of commercial exchange and draft the relevant legislation.
