Republic of Belarus parliamentary delegation on a visit to Bangalore — twin city of MinskOn July 28 – 29, in the framework of the official visit to the Republic of India, the parliamentary delegation of the Republic of Belarus headed by Mr. Gennady Novitsky, Chairman of the National Assembly Council of the Republic, is visiting Bangalore — twin city of Minsk.
While in Bangalore on July 28, the delegation met with the Speaker of the Legislative Assembly of the Karnataka State D-r Sri Krishna and President of the Legislative Council of the State D-r S. Khot. The parties discussed issues relating to development of inter-parliamentary cooperation at a regional level as well as ways of legal support and encouragement of economic interaction between Karnataka and regions of the Republic of Belarus. Mr. Novitsky invited the leaders of the Legislative Assembly and Legislative Council to visit Belarus.
During the meeting with the Mayor of Bangalore Mr. M.Begum and the Commissar of the Municipal Corporation of Bangalore Mr. K.Jairajee, issues of twin relations were raised. The Belarusian side laid a special emphasis on the strengthening of contacts between economic entities of the twin cities.
The same day the Belarusian parliamentarians met with the Chief Minister of Karnataka State Mr. Sri Kumaraswami. Present at the meeting also were members of the local government. The other meeting of the day was with the Governor of the State Mr. Sri Chaturvedi. In the course of the meetings the sides discussed possibilities of consolidating Belarus-India trade and economic exchange, paying special attention to the participation of Belarusian enterprises in the expositions and festivals organized in the Karnataka State. The Chairman of the Council of the Republic proposed to consider the possibility of cooperating in the field of agricultural machinery production, in the mining industry, regional infrastructure development, etc. He also suggested that a procedure of inter-regional cooperation aimed at promoting economic, cultural and humanitarian relations be established. Furthermore, Mr. Novitsky invited the leaders of the Indian “silicon valley” to contribute to the process of launching the hi-tech park in the Republic of Belarus. |
