Anatoly Novikov met with the Ambassador of the Republic of India On 11 January 2006, on the occasion of the festive ceremony dedicated to the national holiday of the Republic of India — The Republic Day, the  Chairman of the National Assembly Council of the Republic Standing Committee for Education, Science, Culture and Humanitarian Issues senator Anatoly Novikov who is also leader of the National Assembly of the Republic of Belarus Working Group on cooperation with the Parliament of the Republic of India, met with H.E. Radjendra Kumar Tyagi, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of India in the Republic of Belarus.
During the meeting the parties discussed the Belarus-India inter-parliamentary cooperation (in particular, at the level of the Working Groups formed in the Parliaments of the two states) and other issues dealing with bilateral economic, humanitarian and cultural links. The Ambassador of India welcomed intensification of the Belarus-India parliamentary contacts in the past two years and stressed the similarity of stands of the two countries on the major issues of international agenda.
