Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference delegation visits Council of the Republic February 1, 2007, the delegation of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) headed by Mr. Zhou Keren, Vice Chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee of CPPCC, visited the Council of Republic. The members of the delegation met with Mr. Nikolai Cherginets, Chairman Standing Committee for Foreign Affairs and National Security, and Mrs. Natalia Andreichik, Chairperson Standing Committee for Legislation and State Administration, Deputy Head of the Working Group on Cooperation with the National Peoples Congress of the People’s Republic of China. Mrs. Tatyana Kravchenko, Member of the Standing Committee for Demographic Security and Social Development, also took part in the meeting. The members of the meeting raised the issues of Belarus-China cooperation in trade-economic and technical-scientific spheres and also considered the teamwork on the international arena. Mr. Nikolai Cherginets brought into focus the fact that our countries had formed a sound basis for the development of the bilateral cooperation especially within the framework of the legal base, and expressed gratitude for the support provided by the People’s Republic of China (PRC) for Belarusian initiatives on the international arena. The Head of the Chinese delegation marked the results of the socio-economic development of the Republic of Belarus very high and stated a considerable potential for the bilateral cooperation in all the fields. He also stated that the Government of the PRC overwhelmingly supports the economic reforms carried out by Belarus and is ready to continue the cooperation on the international arena. The parties also discussed a number of initiatives on strengthening ties between the Republic of Belarus and the People’s Republic of China.
