Nikolai Cherginets met with PABSEC Secretary General

       On 27 February, 2007 Mr. N.Cherginets, Chairman Council of the Republic Standing Committee for International Affairs and National Security, head of the National Assembly of the Republic of Belarus delegation on maintaining contacts with PABSEC met with Mr. A.Kudriavtsev, PABSEC Secretary General. 
       The parties discussed a wide range of issues concerning development of inter-parliamentary contacts and economic cooperation of the Republic of Belarus and PABSEC members. In particular, they touched upon a joint conference conduct at Belarus territory and PABSEC participation in the session of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Union of Belarus and Russia to be scheduled for late April this year. Nikolai Cherginets said that PABSEC contribution to the session would promote closing on interests and development of different projects at inter-parliamentary level.
       Discussing economic cooperation the participants of the meeting underlined the high potential in the transport sphere. Nikolai Cherginets stressed the importance of inland navigation from the Baltic Sea to the Black one. In his opinion it would allow to cut down expenses and freight shipment time. 
       Creation of favorable conditions for cooperation between the countries of the region in the field of law enforcement, culture and education as well as minimization of the Chernobyl disaster aftereffects were also considered at the meeting.
