Boris Batura: We are interested in developing inter-regional cooperation Issues of furthering trade and economic relations between the Mogilev region and various regions of Russia were the highlight of the meeting between the Chairman of the Mogilev Region Executive Committee Boris Batura who is also a member of the Council of the Republic Standing Committee for Economy, Budget and Finances, and Aleksandr Surikov, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Russian Federation in the Republic of Belarus. Mr. Boris Batura stressed that in 2006 the Mogilev region exported its goods to 77 regions of the Russian Federation, while 66 entities of the Russian Federation sent their produce to the Mogilev region, the largest exports coming from Moscow and Moscow region, St.Petersburg and Smolensk Region. The last year’s goods turnover between the Mogilev Region and the Russian Federation increased by 28.7 % as against the year 2005 and made USD 1206.8 million. The participants in the meeting agreed that relations at the regional level should fit perfectly well in the new text of the Agreement on Trade and Economic relations between the Republic of Belarus and the Russian Federation, which is expected to be signed this March. |
