Mr. Batura meets with French ambassador May 16, 2007 Mr. Boris Batura, member of the Standing Committee of the Council of the Republic National Assembly of the Republic of Belarus for Economy, Budget and Finances, Chairman Mogilev Province Executive Committee, met with Mrs. Mireille Musso, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of France in the Republic of Belarus. The parties discussed the issues concerning the extension of the bilateral cooperation. Mr. Batura thanked the head of the diplomatic mission for the humanitarian assistance rendered by French charity organisations to the people of the province suffering from the consequences of the Chernobyl catastrophe and for the rehabilitation courses in different regions of France for the children of Mogilev province. He also made the point that in 1997 the authorities of Mogilev province and Nord-Pas-de-Calais signed an agreement on economic, scientific, humanitarian, cultural, educational and sports cooperation. Boris Batura also said that Mogilev province’s foreign trade turnover with France amounted to 8,4 mln. USD in the previous year and spoke for the trade-economic relations between Mogilev province and French regions to develop more intensively. In return Mrs. Mireille Musso talked highly of the positive tendency in the development of the relations in cultural and humanitarian spheres. The Ambassador said: “Getting myself familiar with Mogilev province and its potential I’ll bring forward proposals relating to the development of economic relations and the participation of French businesses in various investment projects”.
