The Parliamentary Assembly of the Black Sea Economic Cooperation grants an observer status to the National Assembly of the Republic of BelarusOn 22 – 24 November 2005 a parliamentary delegation of the Republic of Belarus headed by Mr. Nikolai Cherginets, Chairman of the National Assembly Council of the Republic Standing Committee for Foreign Affairs and National Security, participated in the 26th plenary session of the Black Sea Economic Cooperation Parliamentary Assembly which took place in Tirana (Albania).
The session considered the official application by the Belarus National Assembly requesting an observer status with the organization. Representatives of all national delegations voted in support of Belarus’ request. Taking the floor after the voting, Mr. Nikolai Cheginets thanked the participants and gave a brief account of the socio-economic situation in Belarus.
The session also discussed issues of international migration, development of transport infrastructure, establishment of local governments as well as improvement of educational and social spheres in member-states.
On the occasion of the session the Belarusian parliamentarians had bilateral meetings with parliamentarians of other BSEC countries, including with Mrs. Josephina Topalli, Speaker of the Albanian Parliament, and discussed prospects of cooperation on a bilateral level as well as in the BSEC framework. |
