Boris Batura meets with H.E. Edminas Bagdonas, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Lithuania to the Republic of Belarus September 26, 2007 Mr Boris Batura, Member of the Standing Committee of the Council of the Republic for Economy, Budget and Finances, Chairman of  Mogilev Province Executive Committee, met with H.E. Edminas Bagdonas, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Lithuania to the Republic of Belarus.
According to Mr Batura, the trade turnover between the Republic of Lithuania and the Republic of Belarus has increased 3 fold over the seven months of this year against the analogous period of 2006 and the export to Lithuania has risen 3.5 fold. He also mentioned that there were eight enterprises operating on the territory of Mogilev Province with Lithuanian share capital. “We would like Lithuanian businessmen to pay more attention to our region and invest more into the projects aimed at constructing production facilities; indeed  Mogilev Province is also attractive because of its entrance to the Russian market,” Mr Batura accentuated. Mr Batura also expressed his satisfaction with the active cooperation in the sphere of culture and brotherly ties of Mogilev and Klaipeda.
H.E. Edminas Bagdonas, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Lithuania to the Republic of Belarus, said that the relations between the two countries had been developing rapidly recently. It can be illustrated with a notable example of cooperation with Mogilev Province. In the opinion of the diplomat, there is even a greater potential for cooperation in the area of economy, science and culture.
In the near future the ambassador is going to visit this region with concrete projects and offers concerning cooperation development. In the course of the one day visit to Mogilev Province H.E. Edminas Bagdonas got acquainted with living conditions and everyday life of his fellow countrymen living in the village of Malkovka, Mogilev Province. |
