Gennady Novitsky receives Ambassador of the Republic of Turkey October 15, 2007 Mr Gennady Novitsky, Chairman of the Council of the Republic National Assembly of the Republic of Belarus, received H.E. Birnur Fertekligil, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Turkey to the Republic of Belarus, on the occasion of the termination of mission of the latter in our country. Mr  Nikolai Cherginets, Chairman of the Standing Committee of the Council of the Republic for Foreign Affairs and National Security, and Mr Anatoly Malofeev, Chairman of the Standing Committee of the Council of the Republic for Regional Policy and Local Self-Government, also took part in the meeting.
The parties addressed the development of Belarus-Turkey inter-parliamentary interaction, cooperation within international and parliamentary organizations and also  the strengthening of bilateral trade and economic ties and humanitarian contacts. Mr Gennady Novitsky thanked H.E. Birnur Fertekligil for her contribution to the increased Belarus-Turkey trade turnover, which has risen three fold over the previous three years. He also pointed out the stepping up of the cooperation with Turkey on the international arena, which is explained by the convergence of the approaches to topical issues.
H.E. Birnur Fertekligil expressed gratitude for the support provided by Belarus to Turkey on the international arena, in particular within the UN. She pointed out a considerable potential of bilateral contacts in the spheres of science and education. Turkish parliamentarians are interested in developing friendly contacts with Belarusian counterparts and in the nearest future they are planning to establish a group of parliamentary friendship in the newly elected parliament, she also mentioned.
At the end of the meeting H.E. Birnur Fertekligil assured that her successor would keep up the quick tempo of the development of Belarus-Turkey relations in all spheres. |
