Nikolai Cherginets meets with Deputy Toraga of the Jogorku Kenesh of the Kyrgyz Republic October 12, 2007 Mr Nikolai Cherginets, Chairman of the Standing Committee of the Council of the Republic National Assembly of the Republic of Belarus for Foreign Affairs and National Security, met with Mr Kubanychbek Isabekov, Deputy Toraga of the Jogorku Kenesh of the Kyrgyz Republic. Mr Nikolai Cherginets talked about the socio-economic development of the Republic of Belarus, its achievements in various fields of activity, priorities of the state policy, including the improvement of the demographic situation, combating illegal migration and human and drug trafficking. Special attention was given to the issues relating to the extension of economic cooperation of Belarus and Kyrgyzstan including export of Belarus-made farm machinery. Mr Nikolai Cherginets made the point that parliamentarians should promote the development of the bilateral cooperation in the areas of culture and tourism as well as the establishment of interregional partnership of the two countries. The senator also talked about the necessity to step up direct inter-parliamentary contacts of Belarus and Kyrgyzstan. The positions of our two countries within the framework of the CIS, Eurasian Economic Community, Collective Security Treaty Organisation, UN and other international organizations concur in many instances, he said. In his turn Mr Kubanychbek Isabekov informed the Belarusian party about the socio-political situation in Kyrgyzstan and preparations for the referendum scheduled for October 21, 2007. The guest also wished to get an access to the legislative base of the Republic of Belarus in order to get advantage of the experience of the Belarusian counterparts. He said that the visit of the President of the Republic of Belarus was being looked forward to in Kyrgyzstan, which, in his opinion, would give a fresh impetus to the development of bilateral cooperation. |
