Nikolai Cherginets meets with Ilya Todorovich, representative of Office of UN High Commissioner for Refugees in Republic of Belarus On 11 December 2007 Nikolai Cherginets, Chairman of the Standing Committee of the Council of the Republic for Foreign Affairs and National Security,  met with Ilya Todorovich, representative of the Office of the UN High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) in the Republic of Belarus. The parties looked at the issues concerning the cooperation of the Parliament of the Republic of Belarus and the mission of  the Office of the UN High Commissioner dealing with problems of refugees and implementation of some UNHCR programs in our country.
Mr Cherginets spoke of a high level of cooperation of state bodies and the Parliament of Belarus with the mission of the UN High Commissioner.
In his turn, Mr Todorovich talked on cooperation with ministries and agencies of Belarus and assistance rendered to persons applying to the UNHCR.
The parties gave special attention to further improvement of the legislation of the Republic of Belarus and also to the recommendations of the UNHCR on granting foreign citizens a status of refugees and providing them with additional or temporary protection in the Republic of Belarus. |
