Nikolai Cherginets meets with Chairman of the Committee of the Council of Federation of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation on the Commonwealth of Independent States Issues On 29 January 2008 Nikolai Cherginets, Chairman of the Standing Committee of the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly of the Republic of  Belarus for Foreign Affairs and National Security, met with Vadim Gustov, Chairman of the Committee of the Council of Federation of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation on the Commonwealth of Independent States Issues, Co-Chairman of the Inter-Parliamentary Committee of the Council of Federation of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation and the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly of the Republic of Belarus on Inter-Regional Cooperation. Stepan Pisarevich, Chairman of the Standing Committee of the Council of the Republic of National Assembly of the Republic of Belarus for Economy, Budget and Finances and Co-Chairman of the Inter-Parliamentary Committee of the Council of Federation of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation and the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly of the Republic of Belarus on Inter-Regional Cooperation, also took part in the meeting.
Mr Cherginets informed his Russian colleague on the current political and economic situation in the Republic of Belarus. In his part Mr Gustov talked on the economic situation in the Russian Federation.
The parties looked at promising areas of interaction of specialized committees of upper cambers of the Belarusian and Russian parliaments. Special attention was given to the issues relating to the work of the Inter-Parliamentary Committee of the Council of Federation of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation and the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly of the Republic of Belarus on Inter-Regional Cooperation. The senators also exchanged their opinions about some international problems.
