Mr Gennady Novitsky meets with the Turkish parliamentarians On June 17, 2008 a meeting between Mr Gennady Novitsky, Chairman of the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly of the Republic of Belarus, and the delegation of the Republic of Turkey headed by Mr Reha Chamuroglu, Chairman of the Turkey-Belarus Inter-Parliamentary Friendship Group took place. Mr Anatoly Malofeev, Chairman of the Council of the Republic Standing Committee for Regional Policy and Local Self-Government, Chairman of the National Assembly of the Republic of Belarus Working Group on Cooperation with the Parliament of the Republic of Turkey, Mr Nikolai Cherginets, Chairman of the Council of the Republic Standing Committee for Foreign Affairs and National Security, Mrs Alla Ralkevich, Deputy Chairperson of the Council of the Republic Standing Committee for Demographic Security and Social Development, and Mr Vladimir Kruk, Member of the House of Representatives Standing Committee for International Affairs and Links with the CIS, also participated in it.
Mr Gennady Novitsky pointed out both the high level of interstate relations between the two countries and coincidence of their positions on major international issues. The Chairman of the Council of the Republic believes that these factors create necessary prerequisites for cooperation development.
Reha Chamuroglu emphasized in his turn historic ties between the Republic of Belarus and the Republic of Turkey and constant enhancement of bilateral relations. The Turkish parliamentarian expressed readiness of Turkey to support the Republic of Belarus at international arena.
In the course of the discussion the parties gave particular attention to the promotion of ties in the spheres of economy, trade, tourism, credits and investments. They also took notice of increase in the number of students interested in studying Turkish and expressed their willingness to further twin town relations between the two states. |
