Discussion of Prospects of Bilateral Relations On 6 August 2008 Mr Vladimir Savchenko, member of the Standing Committee of the Council of the Republic for Foreign Affairs and National Security,  Chairman of Grodno Province Executive Committee, had a meeting with the delegation of Alytus County of the Republic of Lithuania  headed by Mr Eugenijus Palavinskas. According to BelTA News Agency the participants of the meeting discussed a broad spectrum of bilateral relations. In particular Mr Savchenko noted that Grodno Province is interested in searching for investors and promoting its goods at different markets, including that of Alytus County. He informed the participants of the meeting that the volume of trade between Grodno Province and Alytus County in the first six month of 2008 has gained 49 % in comparison with the corresponding period of the previous year, and comprised $ 41,8 million.
Mr Savchenko proposed to organize a meeting for representatives of the Alytus and Grodno regions’ business during the 10th Multi-Sector Exhibition Fair “Euroregion “Neman — 2008” in September. Another issue discussed was the process of realization of the international technical aid project “Cross Border Cooperation of Neighboring Regions of the Republic of Belarus and the Republic of Lithuania on Improving Ecological Security of the Common Water Basin”. |
