Vladimir Savchenko: We are Interested in Enhanced Mutually Beneficial Relations with Podlaskie Voivodeship of Poland On 12 Jule 2008 Mr Vladimir Savchenko, member of the Standing Committee of the Council of the Republic for Foreign Affairs and National Security,  Chairman of Grodno Province Executive Committee, received Mr Maciej Żywno, Voivode of Podlaskie Voivodeship of the Republic of Poland, who was on his official visit to the Grodno region.
According to BelTA News Agency Mr Savchenko spoke about the successful development of the cooperation between the two neighboring regions in the sphere of economy, healthcare, culture and education. He mentioned that the volume of goods turnover of Grodno Province and neighboring state gained 33.9 % in January — May 2008 and comprised $ 117.8 million. Trade relations with Poland comprise 10.6 % of goods turnover, 16 % of export and 7.4 % of import of the Province.
Mr Savchenko underlined that Grodno Province as well as Podlaskie Voivodeship is a member of the “Euroregion “Neman” Cross-Border Union for more than 10 years. The activities within the framework of the Union facilitate the development of the cooperation of near-border regions of the two countries.
The parties confirmed their intention to further strengthen the mutually beneficial relationships. In particular they discussed the prospects of cooperative construction of additional bridge at the border-crossing terminal “Berestovitsa — Bobrovniki”.
