The visit of the parliamentary delegation of the Republic of Belarus to Hungary On 30 — 31 March 2009 Mr Anatoly Rubinov, Deputy Chairman of the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly of the Republic of Belarus, Deputy Head of the working group of the National Assembly of the  Republic of Belarus on cooperation with the Parliament of the Republic of Hungary, stays on a visit to this country as the head of the parliamentary delegation of the Republic of Belarus. Mr Nikolai Zhgun, member of the Standing Committee of the House of Representatives of the National Assembly of the Republic of Belarus for Education, Culture, Science and Scientific and Technical Progress, is another member of the delegation.
On 30 March 2009 the members of the delegation visited the Research Institute for Solid-state Physics and Optics of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences. During the meetings the sides exchanged information on research progress in the Republic of Belarus and the Republic of Hungary and expressed an intention to develop tighter links between the research organisations of the two countries. An agreement was reached to define the spheres that could be attractive for joint scientific research. The Belarusian parliamentarians had a meeting with representatives of the University of Pécs — one of the leading scientific and research organizations of Hungary.
Later in the day the members of the delegation had a meeting with Mr István Íjgyártó, Ditrector of the CIS Countries Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Hungary. The Belarusian parliamentarians informed him about the political and socio-economic situation in the Republic of Belarus and the measures taken by the country’s authorities for national economy liberalization and convergence with the European Union and the Council of Europe. The sides stated the necessity of searching for the ways to simplify the reciprocal travels of the European Union and the Republic of Belarus citizens and confirmed the mutual interest in comprehensive development of trade-economic, technical-scientific and humanitarian cooperation. |
