Mr Boris Batura had a meeting with the Head of the Judiciary of Iran On 29 April 2009 Mr Boris Batura, Chairman of the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly  of the Republic of Belarus, had a meeting with the delegation of the Islamic Republic of Iran headed by Mr Mahmoud Hashemi Shahroudi, Head of the Judiciary of Iran. Ms Nina Mazay, Chairperson of the Standing Committee of the Council of the Republic for Foreign  Affairs and National Security, and Mr Yevgeny Smirnov, Chairperson of the Standing Committee of the Council of the Republic for Legislation and State Administration, also took part in the meeting.
The sides discussed the state of Belarusian-Iranian cooperation in political, trade and economic and other spheres. Mr Boris Batura, Chairman of the Council of the Republic, noted the activeness and the high level of interstate contacts of Belarus and Iran and the similarity of their positions on the main items of the international agenda. He highly appraised the interaction of our countries in the United Nations and the Non-Aligned Movement and expressed gratitude to the Iranian side for the support of the initiatives of the Republic of Belarus in these organizations.
Mr Mahmoud Hashemi Shahroudi in his turn underlined the significant potential of Belarusian-Iranian cooperation in economy, culture and other spheres of activity. He paid special attention to humanitarian interaction questions.
The sides exchanged opinions on the causes of the world financial and economic crisis and possible ways of aftermath mitigation.
In the end of the meeting Mr Mahmoud Hashemi Shahroudi invited the Chairman of the Council of the Republic to visit the Islamic Republic of Iran. |
