The visit of the parliamentary delegation of the Republic of Belarus to the Republic of Turkey On 12 November 2009 the parliamentary delegation of the Republic of Belarus completed its visit to the Republic of Turkey, which took place at the invitation of Mr Reha Çamuroğlu, Chairman of the Turkey-Belarus Inter-Parliamentary Friendship Group in the Grand National Assembly of Turkey. The Belarusian parliamentarians discussed the prospects of developing inter-parliamentary relations with Mr Mehmet Ali Şahin, Chairman of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey, members of the Turkey-Belarus Inter-Parliamentary Friendship Group and Mr Murat Mercan, Chairperson of the Committee of the Turkish Parliament for International Affairs. The sides underlined the high level of political dialogue between the Republic of Belarus and the Republic of Turkey and the successful cooperation between the legislative bodies of the two countries. They also considered the issues of interaction within the framework of European parliamentary organizations (in particular the necessity of restoring the special guest status in the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe for the National Assembly of the Republic of Belarus).
During the meetings with Mr Ünal Çeviköz, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mr Egemen Bagis, Minister of State of the Republic of Turkey for EU Affairs, and Mr Taner Yildiz, Minister of Energy and Natural Resources, a broad range of bilateral interaction issues was concerned. The sides underlined the great potential of bilateral trade, economic and investment cooperation and noted the mutual interest in developing cooperation in the humanitarian sphere.
During the visit the delegation visited the tractor works “Türk Traktör” and had talks with the representatives of the Turkish business. Paying tribute to the First President of the Republic of Turkey Mustafa Kemal Atatürk Mr Gennady Novitsky, head of the Belarusian delegation, laid a wreath to the obelisk in his mausoleum. |
