Joint sitting of the two chambers of the Parliament took place On 17 December 2009 a joint sitting of the chambers of the National Assembly of the Republic of Belarus took place. Members of the Government of the Republic of Belarus answered the questions of the members of the  Council of the Republic and the deputies of the House of Representatives. Mr Boris Batura, Chairman of the Council of the Republic, presided over the sitting.
Mr Andrey Kobyakov, Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Belarus, made a report to the parliamentarians on “The Social and Economic Development of the Republic of Belarus during the 11 Months of 2009”. He noted that the Republic of Belarus was significantly less exposed to the negative influence of the world financial and economic crisis than other countries. The Government managed to reverse the situation concerning the principal issues of social and economic development of the Republic of Belarus. Mr Andrey Kobyakov named the balanced growth of production and sales volumes as a priority task of the Government.
