The visit of the delegation of the National Assembly of the Republic of Belarus to the Syrian Arab Republic On 26 — 29 January 2010 the parliamentary delegation of the Republic of Belarus made an official visit to the Syrian Arab Republic. Mr Konstantin Sumar and Mr Aleksandr Shakutin, members of the Standing Committee of the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly of the Republic of Belarus, were members of the delegation from the Council of the Republic. During the visit the delegation had a meeting with Mr Bashar al-Assad, President of the Syrian Arab Republic, and had talks with the Prime Minister and the Minister of Industry about trade and economic cooperation of the two countries. During the meeting with the headship of the People’s Assembly (the Parliament) of the Syrian Arab Republic the sides discussed the possibilities of inter-parliamentary cooperation.
