Visit of the delegation of the National Assembly of the Republic of Belarus to the Islamic Republic of Iran

     On 25 — 26 May 2010 the parliamentary delegation of the Republic of Belarus paid a visit to Iran. The member of the delegation from the Council of the Republic was Mr Valery Rabets, member of the Standing Committee of the Council of the Republic for Economy, Budget and Finances, member of the working group of the National Assembly of the Republic of Belarus on cooperation with the Parliament of the Islamic Republic of Iran.

     The Belarusian parliamentarians had a meeting with Mr Ali Larijani, Chairman of the Islamic Consultative Assembly, within the framework of the visit. The sides discussed the state and the prospects of parliamentary cooperation between Belarus and Iran. The issues of interaction between the parliamentary working groups were raised at the meeting with Mr Ahmad Mahdavi Abhari, head of the Iranian parliamentary friendship group, and the members of this group. The participants of the meetings agreed upon constant monitoring of the implementation progress of certain bilateral trade-economic and investment projects. In addition to that a Protocol on Cooperation between the Parliamentary Friendship Groups was signed following the results of the negotiations. According to the Protocol the sides shall in every possible way develop inter-parliamentary dialogue for the purpose of facilitating the development of mutually rewarding relations between the states in various spheres.

     The Belarusian parliamentarians had meetings with Mr Mohammad Sheibani, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Mr Ahmad Khadem ol-Melleh, First Deputy Minister of Industries and Mines of the Islamic Republic of Iran for International Cooperation, during their stay in this country. They visited the Iran Khodro Industrial Group, and met with Mr Yasser Seifvand, the company’s Vice-President for exports. The sides discussed a wide range of issues of mutual interest. In particular they exchanged opinions on further intensification of interaction in the key areas of Belarusian-Iranian trade and economic relations.
