Meeting with the parliamentary delegation of the Republic of Azerbaijan

     On 31 May — 3 July 2010 the parliamentary delegation of the Republic of Azerbaijan headed by Mr Samed Seyidov, Chairperson of the Standing Commission of Milli Mejlis of the Republic of Azerbaijan on Foreign Affairs and Inter-Parliamentary Relations stays on a visit to Belarus. Within the framework of the visit on 1 June the delegation had a meeting with Ms Nina Mazay, Chairperson of the Standing Committee of the Council of the Republic for Foreign Affairs and National Security, Mr Yevgeny Smirnov, Chairperson of the Standing Committee of the Council of the Republic for Legislation and State Administration, and Mr Sergei Maskevich, Chairperson of the Standing Committee of the House of Representatives for International Affairs and Ties with the CIS.

     The sides discussed the prospects of bilateral cooperation between the parliaments of the Republic of Belarus and the Republic of Azerbaijan as well as their interaction within the framework of inter-parliamentary organizations. They noted the active development of contacts and expressed mutual intention to extend them by making working visits, organizing joint seminars and other events. In addition to that the participants of the meeting discussed the interaction within the framework of the Eastern Partnership initiative. The sides reaffirmed their position on equal, non-discriminative approach to forming the EURONEST.
