Mr Anatoly Rubinov had a meeting with the Ambassador of the Sultanate of Oman

       On 15 June 2010 Mr Anatoly Rubinov, Chairman of the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly of the Republic of Belarus, had a meeting with Mr Mahhamed Avad al-Hassan, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Sultanate of Oman to the Republic of Belarus (with concurrent accreditation), on the occasion of his accreditation to the Republic of Belarus. Ms Nina Mazay, Chairperson of the Standing Committee of the Council of the Republic for Foreign Affairs and National Security, also took part in the meeting.

       The participants of the meeting discussed the issues regarding the development of Belarus-Oman political dialogue, intensification of inter-parliamentary links as well as interaction in trade and economic spheres. The Chairman of the Council of the Republic expressed sympathy to the people of the Sultanate of Oman at the aftermath of the cyclone “Phet”.

       Mr Anatoly Rubinov highly appreciated the degree of trust between the Republic of Belarus and the Sultanate of Oman. In his opinion, that is a good basis for the development of Belarus-Oman interaction. He stressed that the meeting of the two countries’ leaders in 2007 had contributed to the intensification of bilateral contacts. The Chairman of the Council of the Republic noted that during the official visit of the parliamentary delegation of the Republic of Belarus to the Sultanate of Oman in February –– March this year the legal framework for cooperation between the legislative bodies of the two countries had been created by signing Memorandum of Understanding as well as the range of agreements had been reached in such spheres as economy, culture, regional interaction etc. Bringing those agreements to effect has already started or will start soon.

       Mr Mohammed Avad al-Hassan in his turn highly evaluated the level of social-economic development of the Republic of Belarus and noted that the aura of mutual understanding and friendship existing in Belarus-Oman relations encouraged the implementation of large-scale bilateral projects. He expressed readiness to facilitate further development of mutual rewarding cooperation between the Republic of Belarus and the Sultanate of Oman in trade, economic, humanitarian and other spheres.
