The meeting of Nina Mazai with Czech parliamentarians On 20 August 2010 a meeting of Ms Nina Mazay, Chairperson of the Standing Committee of the Council of the Republic for Foreign Affairs and National Security, with the delegation of Czech parliamentarians took place in the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly of the Republic of Belarus. The members of the Czech parliamentary delegation were Mr Tomáš Jirsa, Vice-Chairperson of the Committee of the Senate of the Parliament of the Czech Republic on Foreign Affairs, Defence and Security, Mr Karel Šebek, Vice-Chairperson of the Committee of the Senate on Public Administration, Regional Development and the Environment, and Mr Jiří Nedoma, Chairperson of the Subcommittee on Transport of the Committee of the Senate on National Economy, Agriculture and Transport.
The sides discussed topical aspects of Belarus’ relations with the Council of Europe and other international organizations. Mr Tomáš Jirsa underlined the interest of the Czech Republic in a more intense participation of Belarus in the activities of European parliamentary structures. The participants of the meeting also discussed the prospects of the cooperation of the two countries in the sphere of local self-government.
In her turn Ms Nina Mazai welcomed the intensification of the political dialogue between our countries. She expressed gratitude to the Czech side for their support of the Republic of Belarus within the framework of the EU Eastern Partnership Initiative.
The participants of the meeting noted the intensification of the Belarusian-Czech trade and economic cooperation, the high potential of the two countries’ relations in the sphere of culture and education and expressed their readiness to discuss the whole range of the issues in this area. |
